The CA calls the verified telephone number for your organisation, the number it confirmed earlier at the Telephone Verification stage. On the call, an authorised representative of your company confirms that the certificate order is genuine and that the named requester is authorised to obtain it on the organisation's behalf. The call is usually brief. Its purpose is fraud prevention: it makes it far harder for someone to impersonate your business and obtain an EV certificate in your name.

How to make the call go smoothly
- Make sure the verified phone number is answered by a person during the CA's business hours, or that reception knows the call is expected and who to route it to.
- Have the authorised requester available. If that person is out of office, the call can stall the whole order.
- Keep your order reference and the details submitted in earlier steps to hand, so answers match the record.
- Complete the call promptly. EV orders can only be issued after this step passes, so delays here delay the certificate.
