Can I change my sites IP via WHM?

Yes. Every ASEOHosting reseller and dedicated account ships with a WHM IP Manager plug-in, so you can move any hosted site from one dedicated IP to another yourself, without opening a support ticket. The whole change takes a few clicks inside WHM and applies to a single cPanel account at a time, which means you can re-address one site in a network while leaving the rest untouched.

Changing a site's IP in WHM, step by step

1. Log in to your WHM control panel.
2. In the left-hand navigation menu, look under "Plugin" and click the "IP Manager" link.
3. Your hosting accounts appear in the left window. Select the account whose IP you want to change.
4. Click the "Change" button.
5. Pick a free IP address from the drop-down menu, and confirm.

The drop-down only lists dedicated IPs that are allocated to your account and not currently in use, so you cannot accidentally assign an address that belongs to another customer. Once saved, the account's A record and cPanel binding update to the new IP.

What actually changes when you swap the IP

Re-addressing a site rewrites the IP that its hostname resolves to. If the domain's DNS is hosted on the same server, the zone's A record is updated automatically and visitors follow the new address as their resolvers refresh. If you run DNS elsewhere (for example at your registrar or a third-party provider), you will need to update the A record there by hand to match the IP you just picked, otherwise the site keeps resolving to the old address. Either way, allow time for the change to propagate; how quickly clients see it depends on the record's TTL, not on how fast the WHM change itself completed. Why you might move a site to a different IP

The most common reason is footprint control across a network of sites. A dedicated IP on its own is not a positive ranking signal, search engines do not rank a page higher simply because it sits on its own address. Its value is defensive and organisational: you avoid sharing an address with a spam neighbour whose reputation you cannot control, and, in a multi-site setup, you keep properties on separate, ideally diverse IP ranges rather than clustered on one block. Practical reasons to re-address a single account include:

• Retiring an IP that has picked up a poor mail or blocklist reputation.
• Spreading sites across different Class C ranges so an entire network does not sit on one contiguous block.
• Freeing a specific address for another project or a client migration.

Good to know before you switch

• The change is per account, so it affects only the site you select, not everything on the server.
• If an SSL certificate is bound to the old IP, confirm it still serves correctly after the move; certificate validity follows the domain, not the address, but any IP-pinned configuration should be checked.
• External DNS, if you use it, must be updated manually to point at the new IP.
• You can only assign IPs already allocated to your account; the drop-down will not show addresses you do not own.
