Moving an existing site to ASEOHosting is a guided, hands-off process: you place the order, hand our technical team the login for your current host, and we restore the account for you. You only touch DNS at the very end, once everything is confirmed working. The whole sequence is designed so your live site keeps serving visitors from the old server until the moment you decide to switch over.
The three steps
- Order a plan and wait for the activation email. Choose the hosting package that fits the site you are moving. If you run several sites and want each on its own dedicated IP, our SEO web hosting plans are built for exactly that. When provisioning finishes you will receive an activation email confirming the account is ready.
- Open a ticket to the technical department with your current host's WHM login details. Log in to the billing portal and submit a ticket to Technical Support, including the WHM (or cPanel) login for your existing host. Our team uses those credentials to pull a full backup and restore your account, files, databases, and email onto your new ASEOHosting server. This is a standard cPanel-to-cPanel restore, so settings and structure come across intact.
- Change your DNS once we confirm the restore is done. When restoration is complete our techs reply to your ticket. At that point you update the DNS records at your domain registrar (usually the nameservers or the A record) to point at your new server. Your site then begins serving from ASEOHosting.
Why DNS comes last
Nothing about your public site changes until you edit DNS, so there is no rush and no exposure. Your old host keeps answering requests right up to the switch. After you update the records, they propagate across the internet, which can take anywhere from a few minutes to around 24 to 48 hours depending on the previous time-to-live (TTL) value on your records. During that window some visitors may still land on the old server while others reach the new one, which is normal and harmless because both hold the same content. For that reason it is good practice to leave the old account in place for a day or two until propagation settles.

- WHM or cPanel login for your current host. This is what lets our team fetch the backup. If your current provider does not use cPanel, or you cannot get WHM access, tell us in the ticket and we will advise on an alternative such as a manual file and database transfer.
- Access to your domain registrar. You will need to sign in to wherever the domain is registered to make the final DNS change. This is separate from your hosting login.
- A recent idea of your DNS records. Note any custom records (mail, subdomains, third-party services) so nothing is missed when you repoint the domain.
Keeping SEO stable during the move
A like-for-like host migration where the domain and URLs stay the same is one of the lowest-risk changes you can make. Because the address of each page does not change, there is nothing for search engines to re-map. Google's guidance confirms that a move without URL changes needs far less intervention than a full site move; see the Google Search Central documentation on site moves for the detail. The main thing to protect is uptime, which is why we restore first and switch DNS only after confirmation.
If part of your reason for moving is to place sites on separate, dedicated IPs, it is worth being clear about what that does and does not do. A dedicated IP is not a positive ranking signal on its own. Its value is defensive: you avoid sharing an address with unknown neighbours whose behaviour you cannot control, and, for people running networks of sites, it gives you cleaner footprint control. If that is your goal, plan which sites land on which IPs before you migrate rather than reshuffling afterwards.
