To create an email account in cPanel, open cPanel, go to the Email section, click Email Accounts, then click Create, choose the domain, enter the username and a strong password, set a mailbox quota, and save. From the same screen you can later change passwords, adjust quotas, set up forwarders, and connect a mail client. This guide walks through each task using the standard Jupiter interface.

Create a new email account

  1. Log in to cPanel and, in the Email section, click Email Accounts.
  2. Click the Create button on the right.
  3. If you host more than one domain, pick the correct one from the Domain menu.
  4. Enter the mailbox name in the Username field. The full address becomes username@yourdomain.com.
  5. Set a password. Use the Generate option for a strong random value, or enter your own. Aim for at least 12 characters with mixed case, numbers, and symbols.
  6. Under Storage Space, set a quota (for example 1024 MB) or choose Unlimited if your plan allows it.
  7. Click Create. The account is ready to send and receive within a minute.

Manage existing accounts

Back on the Email Accounts list, each mailbox has a Manage link. From there you can:

  • Change the password if it is lost or compromised.
  • Adjust the storage quota up or down as usage grows.
  • Suspend logins, incoming mail, or outgoing mail without deleting the account.
  • Delete the mailbox permanently when it is no longer needed.

The list also shows how much of each quota is used, which helps you spot a mailbox that is close to full before delivery starts to fail.

Connect a mail client

On the Manage page, the Connect Devices section shows the exact settings for your domain, and cPanel offers an automatic configuration script for supported clients. For manual setup, use secure ports and your full email address as the username:

Incoming (IMAP): mail.yourdomain.com port 993 SSL/TLS
Incoming (POP3): mail.yourdomain.com port 995 SSL/TLS
Outgoing (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com port 465 SSL/TLS
Username: full email address (username@yourdomain.com)
Authentication: required, same password as the mailbox

Prefer IMAP over POP3 so that messages stay synchronized across your phone, laptop, and webmail. Always use the SSL/TLS ports above rather than the unencrypted alternatives.

Webmail and everyday access

Users who do not want to configure a client can read mail in a browser. Sign in at https://yourdomain.com/webmail (or through the Check Email link on the Email Accounts page) using the full address and password. Roundcube provides a clean, standard webmail interface for reading and composing messages.

Keep delivery reliable

Creating mailboxes is only half of professional email. To land in the inbox, publish SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records for your domain. cPanel can generate SPF and DKIM for you under the Email Deliverability tool in the Email section, and a dedicated Class C IP keeps your sending reputation separated from unrelated sites on shared space. For record concepts and troubleshooting, see our email and deliverability guides, and if you need help planning mailboxes or authentication our team is available through contact us.

For the full reference on every field in the Email Accounts interface, the official cPanel documentation covers advanced options such as plus addressing and per-account restrictions.
