The Comodo PositiveSSL WildCard is a domain-validated (DV) certificate that secures one domain and every subdomain beneath it with a single certificate. It is aimed at operators who run several subdomains off one hostname (for example a blog, a shop, and a customer login) and do not want to buy, install, and renew a separate certificate for each. Validation is domain-only, so there is no paperwork and issuance typically takes between 1 and 10 minutes.

What "wildcard" actually covers

A wildcard certificate is issued to a base domain with a leading asterisk, for example *.example.com. That single certificate then secures example.com plus any first-level subdomain: shop.example.com, blog.example.com, app.example.com, and so on, with no cap on how many you use. What it does not cover is a second level of subdomain (such as eu.shop.example.com) or a completely different registered domain, each of those would need its own certificate.

Does an SSL certificate help SEO?

HTTPS is a lightweight, confirmed ranking signal and, more importantly, browsers now flag plain HTTP pages as "Not secure", which costs you trust and conversions. So a valid certificate is table stakes rather than a growth lever. A wildcard specifically saves you time when a single hostname fans out into many subdomains, but it does not add ranking value beyond what any valid certificate already provides. If you run a network of separate sites on their own domains, remember that HTTPS is a per-domain requirement, not something one wildcard can cover across the whole network.

Validation and warranty in plain terms

Because this is a DV product, the certificate authority only checks that you control the domain (usually via an email or DNS record), so there is no business paperwork and issuance is fast. The $10,000 warranty is a relying-party guarantee from the CA, it is not insurance for your own business, it protects a visitor in the unlikely event the CA mis-issues the certificate. The static site seal is a badge you can display; unlike a dynamic seal it does not pull live status information.

Ordering and getting your money back

You can review this and the other certificate tiers on our SSL certificates page, and there is a 15-day money-back guarantee if it does not suit you. For encoding a certificate signing request, choosing key sizes, and hardening the TLS settings on your server afterwards, Mozilla's SSL configuration generator is a reliable, vendor-neutral reference.
